At the same time serial data (RS-232) can be embedded into or de-embedded from the MADI signal. All settings such as the signal routing, baud rate and the scaling factor are accessible on the front panel of the device.

D.O.TEC® EXBOX.AES extends MADI environments by adding AES conversion in a straightforward manner.

Cascading / Signal Routing
The signal routing is adjustable in blocks of 16 channels. Cascading of four devices offers conversion of all 64 audio channels of a MADI signal.

Bittransparent
The embedder can be deactivated to embed user bits from the AES inputs (OFF) or bypassed to preserve the incoming user bits (UBit Bypass).

RS-232 compliance
The serial data is embedded in MADI user bits 1 to 9 and the process is compatible to the embedder used by Studer/Soundcraft.

Automatic synchronisation
Intelligent automatic clocking speeds up the setup and enhances reliability.

Safe operation
Two solid Hirose sockets allow connection of up to two external power supply units or battery packs for safe operating conditions with redundancy.

D.O.TEC® EXBOX.AES - a handy and powerful AES frontend for MADI systems.

Application examples:

AES frontend for MADI router - Four D.O.TEC® EXBOX.AES’ and one port at the D.O.TEC® M.1k2 are linked building a MADI ring. An appropriate routing of the 32 AES3 I/Os enables an exchange of 64 audio channels with the matrix.

Recording with remote control - The DM-2000 receives the audio signal from an AD8HR (mic preamp) which is remote controlled by a RS-232 signal from the mixing console. D.O.TEC® EXBOX.MIDICOM merges/splits the MADI and RS-232 signals without latency. D.O.TEC® EXBOX.AES establishes the remote connection and provides the conversion of the AES signals from the connected mic preamp to MADI.
